About the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA)
The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) is a premier scientific organization of India. The association started in the year 1914 in Kolkata, and it meets annually in the first week of January. The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) owes its origin to the foresight and initiative of two British Chemists, namely, Professor J. L. Simonsen and Professor P.S. Mac Mahon. It was suggested that an annual meeting of research workers, similar to the British Association for the Advancement of Science, could be organized in India to encourage scientific research. Indian Science Congress Association holds a significant position as one of the nation’s most prestigious scientific gatherings, fostering knowledge exchange, promoting innovation, and encouraging collaboration within the scientific community.
The goal of the association is to advance and promote science in India. To achieve this, they organize an annual congress at a suitable location in India, publish desirable proceedings, journals, transactions, and other publications, and manage funds and endowments for the promotion of science.
